Ellinor, The Year of the Goat, and Quantum Entanglement

Mt. Ellinor and Skokomish Mountain Goats-1

From the moment I awake, I lie silently and listen to the calling of the universe to determine the type of day ahead, because every day has its own personality.

Some mornings are overwhelming, blasting with the sound of horns and a declaration of chaos. A day that can zap the life out of the soul, and the only bright spot is thinking of the good tomorrow may bring.

Mt. Ellinor and Skokomish Mountain Goats-2

Other mornings, the universe whispers, and the day arrives quiet and serene. I can spend the day deep in thought, piecing together ideas, and by night, my life resembles some order.

Then there are mornings like today, when the universe offers a connection that seems very personal. A feeling of confidence floats between secrets and knowledge, inviting adventure and a day to push the envelope.

Hood Canal - Potlatch-22

I roll out of bed as the sun breaks, brew a fresh pot of coffee, and wander down to the water. Breathing in the morning air and looking up at the mountains, it is impossible not to wonder about Ellinor. There is nowhere else in the world where my troubles melt away like they do here on Hood Canal and in the Skokomish wilderness.

It is here my consciousness pervades a deeper level of reality, a connectedness to nature. Many people have such a place ~ a place of solitude that brings out an instinctive feeling of inspiration.  Perhaps it is love. A deep association with the world is etched into who we are as individuals.

Mt. Ellinor and Skokomish Mountain Goats-4

I cannot help but smile as I think back to a quote:

“The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of starstuff.”

Carl Sagan (Cosmos).

Sagan’s words reaffirm the relationship I have with Ellinor. She belongs to me as I belong to her. At the quantum level, we are one.

Mt. Ellinor and Skokomish Mountain Goats-5

Nature holds something true and intrinsic within our souls; a beauty that burns deep within our cells. Writers and poets have long written sonnets about their affairs with nature, and recently, leading physicists have joined in with new theories and experiments to show we have relationships far beyond what our minds can fathom.

At the quantum level, we are made up of subatomic particles, and what a story these particles have to tell.

Mt. Ellinor and Skokomish Mountain Goats-6

Physicists are uncovering the magic of these subatomic particles and their incredible gift: their connectedness and ability to communicate with other particles instantaneously and over unimaginable distances (spanning our universe).

This phenomenon, called quantum entanglement, is not new, but recent experiments and theories have cracked open this door even wider, which is as exciting as it is mysterious.

Mt. Ellinor and Skokomish Mountain Goats-7

Quantum entanglement may unite all of us, connecting everything in the universe to everything else. Scientists are contemplating a spiritual side of nature, and theorists are spinning their minds trying to comprehend what this all could mean.

“Science is not only compatible with spirituality; it is a profound source of spirituality.”

― Carl Sagan

For me, I imagine within my heart is an electron connected to every Roosevelt Elk walking through the wilderness, every salmon swimming in the Skokomish River, and every foothold leading up to the summit of Mt. Ellinor.

Mt. Ellinor and Skokomish Mountain Goats-8

So on this beautiful day, how can I possibly be thinking of quantum entanglement, especially while standing here on the shores of Hood Canal looking at Ellinor only thirty miles away? I am here because I believe Ellinor has reached out to me to visit her once again.

Mt. Ellinor and Skokomish Mountain Goats-9

Once a year, I take a pilgrimage to her peaks to rejuvenate my soul and recharge my spirit. It sets my mind right; the rush of the climb, the beauty along every step, is the easy answer why.

I am aware of the Unrequited Love of Ellinor, which makes my return perhaps even more special—no expectations, no great planning, just a great hike that in the end leaves me speechless.

Mt. Ellinor and Skokomish Mountain Goats-10

I’ve been hiking Ellinor as far back as I can remember, summiting her and exploring the peaks of her neighbors. Each time, on my descent, I felt both spiritually complete and physically spent.

I must admit that even before my hike today, the jealousy of never seeing a mountain goat, somewhat common around this part of the Skokomish wilderness, flickers in me now and then, but my faith holds true. Ellinor will grant me this moment when the time is right.

Mt. Ellinor and Skokomish Mountain Goats-11

Standing here, three days into the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Goat, I have the idea that Ellinor has brought me to her to make this year special. The weather is perfect. The summit is easily accessible this early in the year due to light winter snowfall, and I am ready to strengthen my relationship with her and all that is around me.

Waking this morning to Ellinor’s subsonic whispers of the day’s possibilities was perfect. I drink the last of my coffee and walk along the waters of Hood Canal, content in the solace she offers.

Mt. Ellinor and Skokomish Mountain Goats-12

Being out in nature makes it easier for me to imagine we are all just bags of stardust, particles billions of years old cognizant of everything in the universe. The idea of these particles able to communicate over billions of miles instantaneously, though, is tough to grasp but fun to dream about.

  • Does a form of consciousness exist at the quantum level?
  • Does intuition receive information via quantum entanglement?
  • Do the strange results in quantum physics regarding observation link us to Eastern philosophy and deeper levels of consciousness and illusion?
Mt. Ellinor and Skokomish Mountain Goats-13

Looking up, I see a familiar set of eyes for the first time. These incredible mountain goats seem surprised to have me hanging around the summit, but they share Ellinor with me.

Feeling a rush of adrenaline amid the setting sun, I ponder what the universe and Ellinor are teaching me. I suppose it is just the simple thought of enjoying life and listening to nature. Hear the words of the universe and begin to think of “we” instead of “I”.

Mt. Ellinor and Skokomish Mountain Goats-14

Everything is “we”. We are interconnected in a way that is obvious, made up of the same material: stardust.

The difficulty of this connectedness lies in the depths of the links and attachments we have to the universe and to each other. It is a bit overwhelming.

Mt. Ellinor and Skokomish Mountain Goats-15

As I jump around the boulders, following these impressive mountain goats, I am thrilled that this day has finally come. A day I expected, and perhaps that is why it is here.

Why I am here.

The majestic confidence these goats have, somehow clinging onto the face of a cliff with their hooves when all looks lost, is impressive. I feel a bit foolish thinking that finding these mountain goats on today’s climb within the first week of the Year of the Goat has some significance, but then who is to say it doesn’t?

Mt. Ellinor and Skokomish Mountain Goats-16

The universe works in mysterious ways, and as with the secrets of Ellinor, the secrets of quantum physics are many as well.  It is exciting to hear of physicists discussing the results of the same particle appearing in different places at the same time and opening the possibilities of the manipulation of space-time.

The mysteries of quantum entanglement, these connections possibly holding information we can only dream of uncovering. The déjà vu we feel may be a flash of experience or emotion from the subatomic level.

Mt. Ellinor and Skokomish Mountain Goats-17

Perhaps most important to me as I put on my headlamp, pack up my gear, and prepare to descend the mountain is the idea that we never truly die. Pieces of me will carry over.

The connectedness throughout the universe gives me confidence, and perhaps some state of consciousness embedded in my subatomic particles will keep my spirit alive.

Mt. Ellinor and Skokomish Mountain Goats-18

“We are like butterflies who flutter for a day and think it is forever.”

― Carl Sagan

Consciousness, I imagine, is a vital part of the universe.  Perhaps not in the way we understand human consciousness today, but in a different form.  I suppose when my time comes, I will find out.

The world of physics is a world of magic with so much to learn. Accompanying physics is the magic of philosophy.  One of the tenets of both Buddhist and Hindu philosophy is the idea that everything is energy, dancing in form ~ a dance with the continuous weaving of the form and the formless.

Mt. Ellinor and Skokomish Mountain Goats-3

Such a poetic description can double as a definition of quantum entanglement as well. A description that physicists today are telling us very well may be reality. Until then, it is good to be with Ellinor.

It is good to accept that we may all be part of a scary-large family. Work hard, play hard, and be good. And listen to what the universe has to say.

“We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us.”

– Joseph Campbell

Stunning photography and I agree with you, the world comes alive when we feel ourselves part of a single thread of life.

    1. Dalo 2013 Avatar

Thank you Sue, it does put us in the right frame of mind when realizing how much we are a part of this single thread of life.

Your photography lifts me up and sometimes the sheer beauty makes my eyes water. What is your camera?

    1. Dalo 2013 Avatar

Thanks Sue, for any photographer hearing that a photo lifts the spirit is a compliment treasured. I shoot mainly with a Canon 5D Mark III and then with wildlife I will use my 7D as it has a x1.6 crop which helps bring the action closer 🙂

Fantastic photos. Love the landscapes. Of course, you are way up there with the goat.

    1. Dalo 2013 Avatar

Thanks Timothy, the landscape of the Olympic Range is some of the best…and this part of it is special as it gives such incredible vistas, even without the goats around.

Wow Randall. You put on quite a show for us earthbound souls. I miss the days of wandering mountains and parks, feeding my soul the gifts of quiet, peace, listening and profound connection that you portray so well with your photos and words. Quantum entanglement indeed. May we dance with the stars with love in our hearts and hands! 🙂 Thanks for sharing your gifts.

    1. Dalo 2013 Avatar

Couldn’t agree more, there is something about wandering mountains and parks, rivers and lakes, and the connections that feed our soul. I miss them too, so I grab any chance I can to get out and get my fill before life takes me off in another direction. I think it is very important for us to do so. Thank you very much Brad, and enjoy the coming weekend ~

What a magical experience that must be Randall. Standing on that mountain with those wonderful goats. I truly envy you that experience and thank you for so eloquently sharing it with us. These photographs are magnificent.

    1. Dalo 2013 Avatar

It was one of those magical experiences I have longed hoped for, so when it actually came to life I was all set to enjoy it fully. A perfect start to spring for me ~ and as with your recent sojourn to Iceland, it is nice to get the blood flowing with new stories and experiences. Thanks Adrian very much.

    “We are made of starstuff.”

This is actually the third in a series of scientific revolutions shaping our understanding of our origins and our place in the cosmos. The Copernican Revolution in the 16th century exposed as an illusion the belief that the earth was the center of all creation. Later, the Darwinian Revolution unseated men and women from their divine pedestal of biological exceptionalism, and more recently the Stardust Revolution is revealing how life on Earth actually originated in the stars, placing life in a cosmic context. Some would argue that science is an acid eating away at the eternal mystery of life, but I can see that we both share the view that science simply dissolves one mystery only to reveal a far grander one. I’m so happy that Ellinor was listening to you that day and that you saw those beautiful mountain goats.

Have to go now. Spring has arrived and my mountain is calling too 🙂

    1. Dalo 2013 Avatar

Love this thought of this being the third in a series of scientific revolutions. Of the three, I wonder living in each of those time periods which one would have hit me the hardest. I am biased in saying it is this current one with quantum theory, but I also would think that the Darwinian Revolution would have really rocked me at the time (as it still does today). Science is indeed building up the beauty of nature, the mind and mystery that humans have always strived to unlock… Enjoy your mountain! Cheers ~

Simply sublime. Truly a great place to be one with Nature, a place to escape and be with the mountain goats. For the quantum enlightenment, the particles of your breath, argon, will remain with Ellinor, until one comes along and take you in as part of you, as a family. Safe journey.

  15. Healing Grief Avatar

What a beautiful gift Ellinor is for you and for us to share with you. The synchronicity of seeing these amazing goats is yet another reminder of how our life can unfold exactly as we wish, just not always in the timing we expect. In those precious moments you experienced connecting to the vastness and oneness of life, it is impossible not to be in awe of the energy and life that surrounds us. It is impossible not to remember we are all connected. Your post is like a meditation, reminding me in the stillness I will always find my answers. Thankyou.

    1. Dalo 2013 Avatar

A perfect description, synchronicity. Our lives are truly lived for at the moment, with such a connectedness to everything around us that is beyond our scope of understanding. It is awe-inspiring and as you know can be heartbreaking as well; the connectedness helps with understanding and moving forward to find answers. One very interesting book that touches on this is by Max Tegmark, Our Mathematical Universe: My Quest for the Ultimate Nature of Reality. Wish you a great weekend ~

      1. Healing Grief Avatar

Thanks Randall I will check out the book by Max. Have a great weekend too.

I agree with you Randy, nature speak about us. but sometimes we are to be stubborn. Very pity for those who do not understand. Spectacular landscape photo shot, really amazing. I love your photo techniques. The colors so vivid and very sharp. Beautiful … really amazing!. Thank you for sharing Randy, regards!

    1. Dalo 2013 Avatar

So true DellaAnna, there is a great logic within nature that fits within us like piece of a puzzle. Helps with the understanding of life and our place in where we are today. Thank you very much for the comment, my technique can aptly be described as haphazardly 🙂

PS Was just thinking: I would hang your site in a sort of privately owned collection.

    1. Dalo 2013 Avatar

Hmmmm, a delicious comment. Beauty can hurt, but the greatest trait it shares with us all is how it can heal. Nothing quite like realizing the world (and universe) truly is laid out before us. And yes, if you hang my site anywhere I will be there visiting daily 🙂 Cheers to a great weekend.

Beautiful pictures… such eye candies and mind lifting. The narating along the nature and the underlying physics are thought provoking. I was pondering the same line that parts of us and every thing around us belong together in one form or others at point in time or some point in the future. As you said, are we truely part …

    1. Dalo 2013 Avatar

There is something powerful with the thought that everything belongs together; everything around us, the past, the present and future. Makes it easier for me to live in the present with these thoughts and enjoy what life brings. Thank you very much for the compliment.

I haven’t visited this site in awhile, but I’m glad I did today. I was brought up as a Christian but taught to appreciate all religions. Over the years, I’ve found that Buddhism makes the most sense to me. If Ellinor causes you to contemplate in this manner and be able to share her beauty with others, how can she be indifferent? If her love was unrequited, why would she share her gifts with you and, through you, with others? Thank you for a few moments of reflection and peace.

    1. Dalo 2013 Avatar

Thank you very much Connie, it is enlightening seeing that science/physics is open to everything, and in doing so is now making religions from all over the world more logical and understanding (taking away the political mantras that is often behind the organizations). I love the thought about Ellinor and her sharing of gift ~ so true. Cheers to a great weekend.

Hey, Randall. I hope that gorgeous mountain goat is around when I finally have the opportunity to hike Ellinor for myself. The blue in your images has a way of calming us, as we make our way through your musings. The goat you were tracking looks as if he understands and knows your soul. I have a feeling that the two of you traded secrets. I know I would’ve shared mine. I’m blown away by your location. Stunning.

This post of yours is truly remarkable and calls to my primitive nature. Just a few months from now and I’ll be on the top of my favorite mountain again. I’ll have to save this and read it again while I’m there. No one explains man’s draw to the outdoors better than you.

“…Each time, on my descent I feel both spiritually complete and physically spent.” I love this line and identify completely. It feels to good to be surrounded by like mindedness, Dalo. The connection feels normal and reminds me of home.

The quote you have at the end came as quite a shock to me. I have the same quote on a piece of redwood and it has sat on a table in my entryway for nearly 8 years. I bought it when I moved to Texas from Nebraska. The other quote I purchased, at the same art fair, says “Friends are the family one finds along the way.” Both serve as great reminders for my personal journey.

As far as physics, I agree, such a beautiful mystery. You’ve given me a lot to ponder tonight, and quite honestly, read up on. For me, life continues to astound. Proving we’re all so much more similar than we are different.

The first and last images are my favorites, I think. Takes everything I have not to reach out and touch that beard. And those eyes. I’m a fan and quite envious of your visit. I’ve yet to witness a mountain goat, but now it is a new goal.

    Happy Easter, Photographer Philosopher Extraordinaire.

    1. Dalo 2013 Avatar

So true Audrey, those goats were very comfortable with me around…more at ease than I ~ I’d go off running around, and return to see a goat under my tripod with my camera/lens precariously next to a cliff, yet they were smooth enough not to bump into it at all. A great day, one of the top days in nature I’ve had. Ellinor has this knack of bringing me something different every time out. Having a place, be it mountain, river, pond – is great in that it does feel like home, and I think you will be swimming with your own connectedness when you climb your mountain in a few months.

This Joseph Campbell quote on redwood ~ a great reminder for the journey you are on. There is so much mystery out there, and part of the fun of life is trying to figure it all out (of course it is also part of our frustrations as well). I like how you enjoyed the last shot, as it was one I was not going to include but the eyes and beard are a bit mesmerizing and it demanded to be included. Cheers to your Easter weekend ~

Randall, Randall, Randall…..I have purposely skipped the other commenters because I’d like to share my thoughts without being influenced by others. First, the obvious – you photography, as always, is wonderful. The two-headed goat is an award winner and I really wish you’d enter it in some major competitions. How in heaven’s name did you get close enough for these photos? You CAN’T possibly have hiked this high with a heavy, long-range zoom. Please share your secret on this! Second, and more importantly, your thoughts on this one are as if you’ve climbed inside my brain and pulled out my basic beliefs – about our communion with nature, and the idea of the synergy of nature, physics and spirituality. The elemental connections are surely there if we are open to them. Each time you post I feel that you couldn’t possibly improve on what you’ve written and shown, and then with each new post, you do. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and your talent yet again.

    1. Dalo 2013 Avatar

Ah Tina, this is such a wonderful compliment, can’t tell you how much I enjoyed it ~ I think it is because there is a definite parallel in what/how we see our photography and the nature around us. As for the two-headed goat, I never saw that until I read your comment, and now that is all is see (my first take was just on the light on the kids face). As for the equipment, yes I dragged my tripod, 2 camera bodies and 2 lens to the top (my 24-70mm and 70mm-200mm). The x1.6 crop factor on my 7D is my favorite wildlife set-up.

The amount of complexity that we see with physics (from an academic point-of-view), is in such contrast to the simpler, real physics we experience in the real world (a Daoist point-of-view). A nice book that covers some of this (which I mentioned in another comment) is Max Tegmark’s book, Our Mathematical Universe: My Quest for the Ultimate Nature of Reality. There is so much out there 🙂

  30. Mabel Kwong Avatar

That was a dense yet brilliant read. I like how say it, “Everything is “we”” but have to disagree a little when you say we never truly die. We are certainly at one with the universe. In the context of science and quantum entanglement, we are all made up of atoms, molecules and maybe even stardust. Over time, we lose a bit of these particles of ourselves – we scrape our knee and shed skin, our hair falls off, tears fall from our eyes. In other words, in that sense we die a little everyday only to be reborn. We die to feel alive, to be reborn and regenerate to be a part of the universe all over again. I guess you can apply this thought to feelings and emotions too…but I think that’s another can of worms and another story for another day.

Your article comes at an interesting time to me. I had one of those surreal, out-of-body moments today at work where I spaced out at my desk. I was still conscious of my colleagues buzzing around me and I didn’t feel like I was passing out, and I was still typing away at the keyboard. Just felt like I was momentarily on another continuum.

Great read, great photography. Hope you’ve been well 🙂

Very insightful Mabel, and I don’t think we ever lose particles, for in a sense, these particles can be everywhere in the universe at anytime, and it is the energy of these particles in unison that create and gives us mass. But I do agree that we our physical self does die, we are reborn/regenerate and become a part of this universe (or another multiverse). It is really a pretty interesting time seeing the science of physics flowing along with the spirituality of life…and your spacing out a work, perhaps feeling another continuum is a piece of this nice mystery. Thank you again ~

      1. Mabel Kwong Avatar

“I don’t think we ever lose particles” True that. Atoms, molecules, particles have the tendency to break apart and then come together with other bits and fuse into something else. We die a bit everyday in order to continue the circle of life, a continuous cycle that shows no sign of stopping…for now.

I’m usually not a fan of spacing out. I wonder if it happens to others, it must.

      2. Dalo 2013 Avatar

Spacing out is something I am quite good at 🙂

Its been awhile since I stopped by – but what a beautiful post to come back to! Not only are your photos truly stunning, but your words are beautiful.

    1. Dalo 2013 Avatar

Thank you Alex, tough to say which part I enjoyed most ~ the photography or writing. Actually, it was the photography 🙂 Cheers and nice to hear from you again!

  32. Madhu Avatar

Randall this is beyond sublime! Your words and your photos vie with each other for attention. Ellinor is gorgeous. And those mountain goats take my breath away! The shot of the startled twin headed goat and the one immediately after, clinging to the precipitous face of the cliff are both outstanding. You can’t possibly better this, can you? 🙂

    1. Dalo 2013 Avatar

There was such a great feeling of ‘being there’ when I saw the first goat. It was about 500m away, but it did not matter as I finally saw one. Then when I summited and ran into a family up there, I was in heaven ~ and the post wrote itself 🙂 If I don’t have another moment like this again, I will be fine with it ~ as everything came together as I hoped it would. Thank you Madhu, very much and happy to hear you enjoyed it. Cheers ~

Another gorgeous post. Full of wonder and and endless possibility ~ reminding me of something a friend shared with me just today, ‘we find our beginning and end in the dust of stars…’ Thanks for the hike, the coffee, introducing me to Elllinor and as always for words that seem to fall right out of the stars.

    1. Dalo 2013 Avatar

Thank you so much West, I knew you’d enjoy not just the hike but a good cup of coffee as well. When pieces of nature become a part of us, it becomes easier to see all that we could be…and I very much like the way you say “…for words that seem to fall right out of the stars.”

    1. Dalo 2013 Avatar

With all your treks into nature Indah (especially under-the-water), I think you would relate very much to this pull nature has on us. It is great that we take the time to appreciate it all, cheers and thank you ~

Yes, Ellinor is helping to make your year special and, in turn, you are giving us a gift too by posting these photos for us to see. Thank you Randall for a wonderful repeat-read post! And for allowing me to experience Ellinor’s soul cleansing beauty through your breathtaking images. It’s amazing how easily we can sense the silent communication of the entangled everything when we’re immersed in nature, and how soothing it is. Life suddenly makes so much sense.

    1. Dalo 2013 Avatar

You say it well Tiny, Ellinor is very much a ‘soul cleansing beauty’ ~ so very happy to be able to bring some of that out in this post. Some places make it so easy to get lost in nature and it can be such a fascinating trip that we never want to be found. It becomes easier to understand life, indeed. Thank you ~

“science…is a profound source of spirituality.” Absolutely. The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth…show us from dust we come and to dust we return. That we are comprised of the very elements that are the very anatomy of this world. Mind-blowing. I know yours wasn’t the Christian perspective but Christians need not shy from science. I believe science is the handmaid of the Creator. You are the first blogger who has attempted to tie science (fancy euphemism for the ways of the world) to the subconscious and intuition. Science runs along the rivers of energy, doesn’t it? Stunning photos, R.

    1. Dalo 2013 Avatar

Yes, you have taken this exactly the way it was meant to be ~ science and this great force out there belong hand-in-hand. Realizing this will bring us all closer, although at times so difficult to do because people often cannot move beyond connotations of such words as “Christian” “Science” “Consciousness” ~ it makes it hard to have what should be a relatively simple discussion. Your last sentence says it: “science runs along the rivers of energy” Thank you very much Diana, and wish you the best with weekend ~

Oh my………. what words can describe the beautiful Images and the spirituality of your writing which held me as spell bound as if I were stood onto of the mountain top looking eye to eye within the goats wonderful stare..

Quantum physics is such a mind blowing subject.. But once you get it.. You begin to see there is no separation we are One with the Universe and we are made of the stuff of stars..

Your photo’s were breath-taking.. And I have once upon a time had an experience of connecting to a mountain.. I was on a long holiday, exploring Canada.. and went to the top of Sulphur Mountain Banff.. Walking to the summit was easy as it was all stepped out for visitors.. but once at the top I stood alone and just Breathed… and soaked up the mountain air and views.. In that moment it was if I were the mountain.. So I could feel your exhilaration and almost feel the clear clean air in my lungs..

Needless to say this post of yours Dalo has made a great impact.. None more so than only this last week the Universe spoke and I stopped to listen. and follow where it needed me to go..:-)

I have no doubts I will return to this post again and again.. as I have saved in my browser… for just that moment. this post brought back that feeling you described.. and I so agreed when you said

” I suppose it is just the simple thought to enjoy life and keep listening to nature. Hear the words of the universe and begin to think of “we” instead of “I”.”

How true.. and I so wish there were more ‘We’s’ than ‘I;s’

Blessings your way and wishing you a Joyous Easter Holiday
    Sue 🙂

    1. Dalo 2013 Avatar

A wonderful and inspiring comment Sue, thank you. Seeing all that Ellinor laid out for the on that day was pretty amazing. It made me realize how simple life can be at its core. Stepping out in nature gives us such a great opportunity to step back from the complexities of life, and it seems you have found a place on Sulphur Mountain in Banff ~ knowing that even standing alone on a mountain miles from another soul that you are not alone is pretty powerful. Cheers to a great weekend.

      1. Sue Dreamwalker Avatar

Thank you and you too enjoy more connections with all that there is. 🙂 for it is all of you

Randall Those goats were a message and your photo’s have a dream like quality to them. Your photo’s are so good that you took me there and my eyes sparkled with the stunning beauty you have captured in words and images. Life truly is all about that moment, the one when you look up at the sunrise and say WOW Im still here and isn’t nature amazing. You have reached a place most people never find, you are at peace with yourself and the world and it shows in your work. thank you for inspiring me once again.

    1. Dalo 2013 Avatar

So true, it is those moments in life that if we pay attention to, come around more often than we realize, and make life just that much more perfect. Happy I could take you along to Ellinor, one of the best/surprising shoots I’ve had in a while, and while I didn’t think it was possible, it made me appreciate nature that much more. Thank you Kath and wish you many days like this for you and your family ~

Just got redirected to your post, and wow, I am overwhelmed with both your words and the exquisite, out of this world photography. I could look at these pictures for hours. Carl Sagan is a hero of mine, and thanks for quoting him. Your thoughts on energy, atoms, subatomic particles and our place in this wonderful, mysterious universe were powerful. I thoroughly enjoyed this post and the magnificent Ellinor. Oh and yes, the compelling goats!

    1. Dalo 2013 Avatar

Sagan was truly a great pioneer in opening up the world to us all ~ he was a perfect fit in my story and thoughts about Ellinor and nature in general. Nature takes us on some pretty great adventures, and thank you Noelle for your nice words.

Amazing photography!!!!!! I can’t help but wonder, where at exactly were you standing to get some of these photos, because quite obviously the goat was on a precipice, but where were you to get such incredible shots?

    1. Dalo 2013 Avatar

Thank you SD ~ I was precariously leaning into the mountain with the thought always on my mind of “slow down and don’t forget where you are…” The adrenaline had me running around on that small peak, jumping down a few boulders then back up as these goats simply kept wandering around. Too much fun, but always a little wary (Ellinor was closed for year a while back when a well-known hiker died via an aggressive goat…so that was on my mind as well). Respect nature for sure…

Your risk-taking was certainly rewarded with some brilliant shots. Thank-you for sharing them and your poetic words. I hope this is not too forward of me to ask but do you sell prints? I am so fascinated by the 2 goats with varying shades of grey mountains in the distance. I keep staring at it. It’s mind-blowingly beautiful, vast and expansive.
